Why haven't we seen any artists similar to Tupac and Biggie?
In my opinion Tupac, Biggie are the greatest rappers ever along with
Rakim. But it seems like over the last decade there haven't been any
rappers that are even on the same level as those 2 at least in my

and it was like art in a way. When I listen to the top 40 on the radio

it every year around the time of Christmas in elementary school. I

What are some good thrash metal band names that ARE NOT taken?

Hi im a 16 year old who has been writing for 3 years, last year after
being told by everybody i need to take rap seriously as i have a
talent i decided to go for it no matter what and sacrifice everything,
but obviosly i can still keep improving. Im even considering moving
out to the states from the UK to pursue this with everything ive got
as i have this deep gut feeling i will make it, theres nothing else i

going to give the UK scene a go and the chances are far greater i will

Rap&Hip-Hop: Are there any producers here who'd like to teach me more about producing?
Ok I want to produce some beats, especially since Im a rapper I want
to be able to say I compose most of my music. I downloaded FL Studio
and I can make a simple beat but not a badass one... and I dont know
if its even possible to make a badass beat off of the FL Studio demo
version anyway.

Why don't more bands/singers use electronic drums live?
I make music myself, and believe me, I listen to a tonnn of different
music. Something I've noticed in literally every live concert/show
I've been, and in almost every live recording I've listened to, is
that the drums, especially the snare, just sound like shit compared to
the album.
I know that it's a matter of opinion, but if you listen to a lot of
these newer albums, even more garage-y stuff like The Strokes, the
drums just sound worlds apart on the album compared to the live show,
because they use lots of plug-ins, effects, and even samples. Another
large part of the sound is the way the drums are mic'd. But bands
never recreate this during a live show, either. Most of them just use
the old "1 mic on each drum, overheads on the cymbals" setup.
So my question is: Why don't more drummers use triggers, or electronic
drums live? Do they really care enough about the "feel" of the drums
to let the sound quality suffer? With today's technology, you can even
have realistic dynamics on triggered/electronic drums.

Are movies sending the wrong message to kids?
It seems to me that movies are making kids arrogant and narcissistic.
Specifically the movies where the kid or young teen characters are
more intelligent than all of the adults in the story, tend to be
bullheaded, and win all discussions. It makes kids believe they are
entitled to do what ever they want simply because they feel it.

Maddie from the film: True Grit
Lyra 'Silvertongue' Belacqua from the film: The Golden Compass
A few movies that actor Haley Joel Osment has been in, etc.
A clear example of what I'm talking about is this:
In "True Grit", Mattie Ross is clearly the most intelligent character
in the story. For a young teen, she is practically a genius. Super
witty, super sharp, incredibly knowledgable about the law enough to
debate against seasoned adults, and bullheaded with a chip on her
shoulder to boot. The thing is, (although the writers may not have
intended this) she has an IQ way above the average young teen. She
also has a reason for her fustration, her murdered father. (awesome
movie BTW)
But here's the thing, young teen girls watch movies like this and
think, 'wow, she's bad*ss. She ripped all those old men in the story a
new one with her toughness. I want to be like her.' The result is,
bratty young teens making big deals about how they are entitled to do
what ever they want, when ever they want, as if they are adults who
know what they're talking about. You've seen them on shows like Jerry
Springer, Dr. Phil, Judge Judy, etc. A bunch of know-nothing kids who
think the world owes them something. They are usually fighting for the
most childish things (because they're children/young teens), and their
IQ is average, so they don't have the smarts to be like Mattie. This
is why when they are bullheaded, they come off as the spoiled bratty
children they are.
I see this a a problem. Anyway, thoughts?
